Vuelta: Senechal celebrates greatest career success

The French Radprofi Florian Senechal (Deceuninck-Quick Step) won the 13th stage of the Vuelta and celebrated the greatest success of his career. The 28-year-old prevailed after 203.7 km in the Sprint in Villanueva de la Serena in front of the Italian Matteo Trentin (UAE Team Emirates) and its compatriot Alberto Dainese (DSM). Alexander Warrior (Alpecin-Fenix) was considered the best German eleventh.

In the fight for the red jersey, there were no changes on the area stage as expected. Defending champion Primoz Roglic stays behind with 1:56 minutes in a stroke distance of the overall touring Christian Eiking (Intermarche-Wanty-Gobert) from Norway. Second is the Frenchman Guillaume Martin (Cofidis / + 0: 58).

The German champion Maximilian Schachmann (Berlin / Bora-Hansgrohe) had already gone out of the tour before the leg of muscular problems. The Vuelta was a great goal in this year's season, and to drive here in a bad constitution, is very disappointing, said the Paris Nice winner.

Maximilian felt very badly the last days and could not sleep last night. He was very bad muscularly, and he could not recover from the heat and burden on the stage at night, Boras Sporting Director Steffen Radochla added : So it did not make sense to leave him start today, especially with regard to the next stage with the heavy uphears.

The 14th stage of this year's Spain tour could provide more movement in the overall class on Saturday. After 165.7 km, the section ends with a mountain arrival at Pico Villuercas (1st category). Previously, the Peloton has to cope with an increase in third parties and another category.
